Don’t Blame Parkash Singh Badal for SYL Canal Dispute: Prem Singh Chandumajra
Reverting on the comments made by Congress Leader Capt. Amarinder Singh in regard with SYL Canal dispute, Shiromani Akali Dal MP Prem Singh Chandumajra said that SYL was in fact constructed by late Giani Zail Singh during Emergency imposed by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
He stressed that after Zail Singh, when Badal became the chief minister for the first time the clever babus in the secretary got a file cleared in routine which pertained to the construction of the SYL. It was an innocent mistake by Badal Sahib.
Warning the opposition on passing blames he said “Captain Amarinder Singh is passing the blame on the Chief Minister due to upcoming elections, if he had any such concerns why was he silent for years, Congress’s strategy of blame game is utterly wrong.”
Addressing the press at Circuit House Patiala, Chandumajra announced that Patiala-Pehowa road would be renamed as Shaheed Udham Singh. He highlighted the role of Udham Singh in the struggle for independence. The MP said that special grants for the villages had been released. As much as Rs 25 crore had been pumped into the constituency.
Chandumajra’s son Harinder Pal Singh Chandumajra is declared contestant from Sanaur Constituency and have already started campaigning for upcoming elections.
